Steinmetz lecture at Big Studio

© Mark Steinmetz

Athens-based street photographer Mark Steinmetz is speaking tonight at Big Studio at 7pm. His work is part of collections at the Whitney Museum, MoMA, and our own High Museum of Art. Steinmetz has published a few books, including last years’ Greater Atlanta. The event is part of a rescheduled ACP event and you can find the rest of the details here.

Photo Round-up

- New York Times photographers Raymond McCrea Jones and Jon Huang photographed 99 finishers of the New York City Marathon.

- The High Museum has named Brett Abbott as its new photography curator, replacing Julian Cox. Like Cox, Abbott comes from the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

- Tod Brody, the photographer who licensed the controversial photo used on the cover of Vampire Weekend’s Contra album, has been served, via email, to appear in court, since he wasn’t able to be located. Read this rest of this complicated story over at PDN and always remember to get your model releases.

- The New Yorker highlights Richard Mosse, who used Aerochrome to illustrate his new project Infra.

- And last but not least, David Zimmerman has some great 8×10 portraits from the oil spill, once again over at the NYT.
